Abstract
861,974. Automatic voltage control systems with excessive current protection. RACAL ENGINEERING Ltd. Feb. 27, 1959 [March 14, 1958], No. 8189/58. Class 38 (4). In a series valve voltage stabilizing system a resistor R8 is connected between the cathode of a regulating triode valve V1 and an output terminal 12, and a diode valve D1 is connected between the control grid of the triode and the output terminal. At a predetermined current through the triode the voltage across the resistor causes the diode to conduct and maintain the control grid potential of the triode near that of the cathode. The impedance in series with the supply is then equal to the anode impedance of the triode. The diode valve D1 may be replaced by a silicon or germanium diode.
