Abstract
656,649. Automatic voltage control systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. April 5, 1948, No. 9455. Convention date, April 5, 1947. [Class 38 (iv)] In a voltage regulator of the type having a valve in series with the load controlled by a second valve, the anode/cathode voltage of this second valve is made smaller than the output voltage of the regulator. The grid of the series regulating valve V1, Fig. 2, is controlled by the output of control valve V2, the anode load of which is connected to the positive input terminal whilst the cathode is taken to a tapping on a potential divider 19 connected across the output. The grid is connected to the positive output terminal through a battery 22 providing a reference voltage. In a modification, Fig. 4, the anode/cathode voltage of the control valve V4 is the voltage across two of the series-connected stabilizers V6, V7, the control grid being connected to the potential divider 19. A further valve V2 is a direct coupled amplifier between the control valve V4 and the regulating valve VI. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the stabilizers are replaced by batteries.
