Abstract

888,939. Furnace linings. GOULD, A. K. May 4, 1960 [May 29, 1959], No. 18340/59. Class 51(1). The fire tube 11 of a Lancashire or similar type boiler is lined with insulating refractory blocks 20 over a length beyond the fire grate area sufficient to enable combustion to be completed. The lining is formed of blocks 21, each forming the quadrant of a cylinder and having a torque at one longitudinal edge and a complementary groove at the other edge. A number of rings each comprising four interlocked blocks 21 are slid into the fire tube, and rest in place without cement.
