1003060 Preventing corrosion COMBUSTION ENGINEERING Inc 28 March 1963 [27 April 1962] 12295/63 Headings C5G G10B and G11 Corrosion of the high temperature heat-transfer surfaces due to the action of the combustion products of solid fuel burned in a furnace is reduced or prevented by applying magnesium oxide to the surfaces. A slurry of magnesium oxide, or of a material which decomposes to give magnesium oxide is applied at intervals to the surfaces of the reheater and super-heater tubes in a solid fuel fired steam generator through the sootblowers.
