Abstract

1,142,436. Raising steam in forced flow boilers. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 23 Jan., 1967 [4 Feb., 1966], No. 3287/67. Heading F4A. The economizer, evaporator and optionally the superheater heating surfaces of a oncethrough forced flow boiler 1 are filled with feed water prior to the ignition of the firing system, which feed water has been preheated, as by auxiliary steam in heat exchanger 19, to a temperature between 10‹ and 20‹ C. less than the saturated steam temperature at the start up pressure. This reduces the start up period of the boiler. Alternatively the feed water preheater may be directly fired.
