Abstract

1,197,222. Steam generators; heating air for combustion. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 5 Sept., 1968 [5 Sept., 1967], No. 40626/67. Headings F4A and F4B. Feed water is heated by bled steam from turbine 14 in heaters 20 and by combustion gases from boiler 12 in heater 32, the combustion air being heated in a pre-heater 45 by combustion gases supplied in parallel to those supplied to the heater 32. A second air pre-heater 40 is heated either by bled steam through pipe 48 or by heated feedwater through pipe 49. Heated feed water from heater 20 may be supplied through pipe 38 to a downstream portion of the feed water pipe in the heater 32.
