Abstract

1,062,303. Hot water supply systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 8, 1966 [Feb. 8, 1965], No. 5369/65. Heading F4A. [Also in Division F1] The water for a district heating installation is heated in heat exchangers 11, 12 by steam from the exhausts of main and additional intermediate pressure cylinders 5, 9, respectively, of a steam turbine. The temperature of the heat exchanger 11, and thus the temperature of the district heating water leaving the exchanger, is controlled by a valve 15 in the steam line 16 between turbine cylinders 5 and 6 which regulates the exhaust temperature of cylinder 5. Adjustment of valve 15 may be carried out automatically to maintain the temperature of the heating water leaving exchanger 11 constant. Valve 24 controls the temperature of the steam flowing to exchanger 12 from cylinder 9. A feedwater heater 22 is included in the plant but may be omitted.
