[Also in Group XXVI] A rocket combustion chamber is formed of tubes, welded together, which carry circulating coolant. The surfaces of the tubes forming the combustion chamber throat are given a higher heat-transference than the remaining surfaces. This is effected by reducing the wall thickness or by removing the wall of each tube, at the throat zone, and replacing it by an insert of a metal having a higher heat conductivity, which is welded in place. Each tube is pressed to form plane side surfaces to facilitate assembly.
