1,214,770. Combustion chamber lining; preventing smoke. SOC. GENERALE DES PRODUITS REFRACTAIRES. 30 Sept., 1969 [30 Sept., 1968], No. 48020/69. Headings F4B and F6W. The combustion chamber of an oil fired boiler is lined with a refractory insulating material in the form of a mineral fibre felt 4 enclosed in metal grids 5, and a refractory filter 6 is arranged to form the roof of the chamber. The metal grid 5 on the inner side of the lining forms hot spots on the lining to improve the combustion, and the filter 6, which is formed of refractory mineral fibres reinforced with a metal grid, prevents unburnt particles reaching the heat exchange chamber 9 and flue 10. A gap 7 between the filter roof 6 and one wall of the combustion chamber prevents danger if the filter becomes clogged.
