Abstract

Linings; pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-Flues of Lancashire or Scotch boilers, especially for pulverized fuel, are lined over at least a part of their length with semi-conducting refractory tiles or bricks of such thickness or character as to allow a temperature drop of at least 1650‹ F. from the inner face to the metal surface and at the same time to be capable of standing a temperature of 2000‹ F. without rapid destruction. The tiles may be secured by clips spot-welded to the flue and may be omitted at intervals so that the flue surface is only partly covered. The flue may be extended outwardly at 5 to assist in completing combustion.
