Tunnel furnaces.-An annular tunnel furnace for use in hardening spring plates &c. is formed with feed and discharge openings c, d in the outer peripheral wall arranged on opposite sides of a radial partition e, on the feed side of which are burners g delivering to combustion chambers f in the partition. The roof of the heating-chamber is sloped near the discharge opening d to provide an enlarged space into which the combustion chambers deliver. The air for combustion is heated in pipes m on the chimney flue i.
