Abstract

1,046,600. Boiler furnaces. McFARLANE BROS. (HEAT) Ltd. Oct. 6, 1965 [Oct. 17, 1964], No. 46361/64. Headings F4A and F4B. A shell type boiler furnace comprises a cylindrical combustion chamber 3 closed at one end 4 and having a burner 6 at the other end, a mixing chamber 7 adjacent the burner, a first series of smoke tubes 10 leading hot gases from the closed end of the combustion chamber to the mixing chamber, and a second series of smoke tubes 11 leading from the mixing chamber to the smoke box 12. The tubes 8, 11 are arranged concentrically around an arc of the combustion chamber and the tubes 11 may contain baffles 13. Air may be injected into the mixing chamber.
