888,000. Pouring stoppers. WADDINGTON, R. S., and DUVAL, B. Feb. 24, 1958 [Feb. 25, 1957 ; Sept. 24, 1957], Nos. 6260/57 and 29982/57. Class 125(3). A pouring device for a container has a sealing member 1 through which is reciprocable a tube 2 with abutments 3, 4 and divided by an inclined septum 5 to define an air passage 6 having a wide inlet 7 and small exit 8. The tube may be closed by a plug 9. In a modification for a container having a neck 13, Fig. 2, a tube 12 is slidable therein and has a septum 17. An overall seal 19 is crimped on and traps a lug 18. In a further modification, Fig. 3, tube 2 is countersunk to receive the flange 20 of a rubber plug 21 having a projection 22 fitting over lug 11 and the air exit is provided by a circular hole 8a in a segmental wall otherwise closing the passage. A thin metal cover 27 with its peripheral portion crimped under flange 25 of the filling aperture prevents the tube 2 being driven outwardly by pressure within the container during transit.
