886,083. Forcing liquids by gaseous pressure. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Oct. 20, 1959 [Nov. 26, 1958], No. 35468/59. Class 102(2). [Also in Groups XVII, XVIII and XXI] A fire extinguisher for dispensing a fluid medium (e.g. liquid or powder extinguishing agent pressurised by gas such as nitrogen or dry air) has a cam-actuated valve 14 in a head 25 which latter is screwed on to a collar 17 axially restrained by a pin 22, Fig. 3, and slidable on the neck 11 of the fluid medium container 10. The collar 17 squeezes a sealing ring 21 between itself and retaining rings 18 and 19, thus forming a good seal, when the container 10 is pressurised via the valve outlet 31. The valve inlet 34 removably engages a syphon pipe 15 having fins 35 which latter abut a stop 36 retaining the pipe 15 in the container 10 when the head 25 is removed by unscrewing from collar 17 for recharging the container with extinguishing agent.
