Abstract

883,567. Web rolls. MACMILLAN, BLOEDEL & POWELL RIVER Ltd. Nov. 10, 1959 [March 10, 1959], No. 38001/59. Class 100(1) [Also in Group XVII] An end cap 10 for a roll supporting core 14 comprises a tubular sleeve 12 fitting tightly into the end of the core. An end wall 22 of the cap 10 has an elongated slot 24 having a reinforcing flange 25 which strengthens the cap against radial compression. A flange 29 serves the same purpose at the front end of the cap. Keyways 35, engaging slots 52 in the core 14, receive keys not shown, when the core carrying a web roll is mounted in a machine. The cap 10 may be removed from the core 14 by a tool (Fig. 4, not shown) provided with a head 56 which engages the cap through the slot 24, Fig. 3.
