Abstract

711,327. Reinforced concrete. SCHUSTER, V. Aug. 25, 1952 [Aug. 31, 1951], No. 21315/52. Class 20 (4) Structural steel for concrete, which is workhardened by twisting with or without additional stretching and has a substantially cylindrical surface, is hollow at least adjacent its core. As shown in Fig. 8, in which the steel has a central cavity 1, four longitudinal ribs 2 are provided on the periphery. In a modification a radial slot, flaring outwardly, extends from the central cavity. In a further form, Fig. 13, a funnel-like slot is provided forming longitudinal edges 9 at the walls thereof and cross-webs 10 are provided. In an alternative form, the cross-webs are omitted. In another embodiment, the slot leading to the central cavity is not funnel-like and a longitudinal rib is provided in the cavity opposite the slot. In another form, the slot passes right through the steel, ribs being provided at the centre thereof and crosswebs hold the parts of the bar together. In another embodiment, Fig. 14, three slots 11 and crosswebs 12 are provided.
