Abstract

832,234. Bobbins. SCAGLIA S.p.A., M. Sept. 20, 1956 [March 22, 1956], No. 28839/56. Class 120(3) A bobbin comprises a tubular metal core having near each end an annular groove formed by a portion of reduced diameter, a flange at each end having an aperture engaging the annular groove, and a plug at each end of the core, the core ends being expanded against the aperture of the respective flange. A bobbin is formed by fitting flanges 34 on to reduced diameter ends of a metal core tube 10 and bending out the core ends to retain the flanges. The bobbin is then placed in a split former 30 and plugs 22, which may be formed of two or more elements, inserted in each end of the core 10 by a punch 48, and retained there by a groove 28, and preferably also by punching through the core 10 into the plugs 22.
