Abstract

905,834. Web roll supports. DAGENS NYHETERS A.B. Aug. 26, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1958], No. 29205/59. Class 100 (1). A web roll 30 is mounted on a core 1 having gripping members 7 rockably mounted in grooves 3. The core 1 is surrounded by a tapered sleeve 15 formed with axial slots 16 through which the gripping members 7 project. When a driving-shaft, not shown, secured to a conical portion 1a is rotated, the core 1 rotates relatively to the web roll 30 due to the inertia of the web roll, thereby rocking the gripping members 7 tightly into engagement with the inner turns of roll 30. The gripping members 7 are retained in such engagement when the driving shaft is braked by a locking device comprising spring-pressed dogs 20 in the core 1 engaging teeth 17 in a flange 18 of the sleeve 15.
