657,924. Dynamo-electric machine casings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 12, 1949, No. 9881. Convention date, April 27, 1948. [Class 35] A dynamo-electric machine has an outer cylindrical shell member and die cast end shields 9 of relatively soft material adapted for a snap-in fit with the shell member by providing the end shields with a plurality of projections 10 on their outer periphery and each of these projections is tapered at its outer surface 11, whereby a self-aligning and self-centring fit is provided between the end shields and the shell member. The outer periphery of the ends of the projections 10 has a diameter A less than that of the shell member and the diameter B of the outer periphery of the bases 12 of the projections 10 is equal or slightly greater than the inside diameter of the shell member.
