Abstract

878,237. Steam superheaters. SULZER FRERES S.A. May 27, 1960 [May 30, 1959], No. 18921/60. Class 123(3) In a forced-flow, once-through stearn boiler a lateral nass 2 from the boiler furnace, not shown, leads gases into a downpass 4 locating a reheater tube bank 18 and primary super heater or economizer tube banks 19, 20. The tube banks which each consist of spaced, vertical platens of nested, multiple-bend U-tubes are supported within the downpass on a reticular framework of tubes conveying the working medium. The main supporting system of the framework consists of three rows of vertical tubes 16 which extend from an upper header 17 to a lower header 10. Groups of tubes 11 extend from the header 10 to upper headers 8 and form part of the lining of the downpass side walls 3a. The remainder of the lining is formed by interposed tubes extending from the headers 8 to lower headers 9. To support the tube banks 18, 19, 20 some of the tubes 11 are led out from the remainder on each side wall to constitute horizontal supporting loops 12 ... 15 which are themselves supported by the vertical tubes 16. Thus, as shown in Figs. 4 to 7, the end tube 21 of a group 11 is looped along the front of the group at 24 and then forms two horizontal limbs 26,27 passing on opposite sides of the tubes 16 and supported thereby on brackets 28 welded to the tubes 16. The tubes of the group 18 are held at their correct vertical and horizontal spacing respectively by welded webs 52 and spacer lugs 31.
