Abstract
762,851. Water-tube steam boilers. VORKAUF, H. Jan. 4, 1952 [Jan. 5, 1951], No. 336/52. Class 123(2) Relates to a prefabricated water-tube steam boiler of the kind comprising unheated corner downcomer tubes 1, 1, 2, 2 connected by lower and upper longitudinal headers 3, 3, 4, 4 and transverse headers 12...16, to form a rectangular frame defining a combustion chamber, and steam-generating riser tubes, such as the side wall tubes 8, 8 and transverse rows or banks 6, 7, 9, extending between pairs of said upper and lower headers. The boiler is made from a plurality of transverse sections, for example three, each comprising corresponding lengths 3a, 4a or 3b, 4b, or 3c, 4c of the longitudinal headers 3, 3, 4, 4 and at least a pair of transverse headers with an associated row or bank 6, 7, 9 of riser tubes, which are later connected solely by welding the longitudinal header lengths together. As shown, the usual steam-andwater drum 5 preferably forms part of the front boiler section, and all the riser tubes have a part of their length inclined to the vertical to permit expansion thereof.
