Abstract
878,184. Forced-flow steam boilers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE A. G. March 26, 1958 [March 30, 1957], No. 9720/58. Class 123(2) ' The evaporator of a forced-flow, oncethrough boiler comprises two sections of parallel-connected tubes, the first section consisting of series connected groups 2, 4, 6 of vertically-disposed return bend tubes whilst the second section 7 consists of horizontally-disposed, return bend tubes through which the working medium flows from a bottom inlet to a top outlet. To allow for the volumetric increase in the working medium as it is evaporated there is a larger number of parallel-connected tubes in the second section than in the first. The sections are connected through a header or individual tubes of the first section bifurcate into two tubes in the second. The groups 2, 4, 6 of the first section may be arranged on three walls of a rectangular section furnace chamber with the tubes of the second section 7 on the other wall (Fig. 3, not shown). With this arrangement the instability of operation at low loads or when starting up which may occur if the evaporator consists wholly of vertical tube runs is avoided.
