878,039. Casings for electric motors. H. R. ELECTRIC MOTORS (NEWHAVEN) Ltd. May 15, 1958 [May 20, 1957], No. 16013/57. Class 35. In an electrically-driven centrifugal fan, blower &c., the fan housing 15 is secured to the motor body by the longitudinal bolts 14 which secure the motor end covers 6, 7. The end covers, which may be of steel or aluminium, support bearings 9 in which are journalled reduced end portions of the shaft 3, end play being taken up by fibre thrust washers 10. Ball bearings may be used. The edges of the end covers abut over the middle of the motor core 4. The fan blades 23 are mounted in slots in a disc 22 and have portions 24 extending behind the disc 22 and serving to draw air through the motor by way of holes (not shown) in each end cover. A fan-guard 33 is provided.
