Abstract

1,010,801. Cooling electric motors. WOODS OF COLCHESTER Ltd. Nov. 1, 1961 [Nov. 22; 1960], No. 40180/60. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F1] In a fan casing or duct (see Division F1), having the impeller driving motor isolated from the gases handled by the impeller 16, the motor is enclosed in a chamber 5, 6 extending on one side only to the wall of the duct, and a small impeller 29 is provided within the chamber on the tail shaft 31 of the motor to provide a ventilating flow of air into and out of the chamber. A removable baffle 32 may be provided to aid the circulation. Oiling cups 26 and an electrical cables conduit 27 leading to a connection box 28 are provided. The fan casing and the motor containing chamber may be coated with an anti-corrosive paint or synthetic resin for protection from the gases.
