Abstract

1,043,213. Axial-flow fans. H. PAPST. Jan. 7, 1964 [Jan. 14,1963], No. 651/64. Heading F1C. [Also in Divisions F4 and H2] In a ventilating fan driven by an electric motor, comprising fan blades 12 on the outside of an external rotor 11 and a housing 1 having spokes 2 and a flange 3, a flanged tube 6 fixed by an easily detachable connection to the flange 3 mounts the motor with the stator situated on its outside and radial and axial rotor shaft bearings 7, 13, 14 in its inside. The connection is provided by screws 17 engaging the flange 16 of the tube 6, with the interposition of an oiltight seal 19, or in a modification, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), the screws 17 clamp the flange 3 between the flange 16 and a separate flange cover 3<SP>1</SP>. A snap ring 15 secures the rotor shaft 8, and the rotor may comprise a cage, a hysteresis ring 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 11 (not shown), or a soft iron ring provided on at least one side with a copper ring and possibly externally cut to reduce its cross-section. The spokes 2 may form air guiding blades, and the fan is mounted on a wall 22 of an electrical apparatus to be cooled by screws 23 which clamp a frame 24 to housing bosses 21. A filter 26, protection grid 27, and a frame 28 may be provided on one or both ends and retained by frame-tensioning springs 29.
