Abstract

908,718. Cooling electric motors; squirrelcage constructions. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 2, 1960 [Sept. 3, 1959], No. 30058/59. Class 35. One end ring 14 of rotor 10 of a squirrel-cage induction motor has a staggered double row of fins 25 projecting radially inwards and cooled by a gaseous cooling medium, e.g. air, issuing from a number of axial cooling ducts 22. The fins may be formed to assist the conventional cooling fan and the end covers 19, 20, 21 may have external cooling fins if the motor is totally enclosed.
