Abstract
927,390. Dynamo-electric machines. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. May 24, 1961, No. 18783/61. Class 35. In an electric motor comprising a rotor and stator mounted within a casing, ducting 7, 8 is lead from outside the casing through the space enclosed by the stator iron and a fan having two sets of blades 16, 17 at different radii is mounted on the rotor shaft to rotate therewith so that in operation cooling air is drawn through the ducting from outside the casing while air within the casing is circulated so as to pass over the outside surface of the ducting and to transfer heat thereto, the two air streams being kept substantially separate by means of an annular baffle 18 arranged between the two sets of blades 16, 17 on the fan. The air flowing through the ducts 7, 8 passes out of the casing through apertures 24, 25. The ducts may be provided with fins to increase the heat transfer.
