Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0877531/IV (b)/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3 each represent a hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, a trifluoromethyl, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, hydroxy, nitro, cyclohexyl, or benzyl group and non-toxic salts thereof, and the preparation of the compounds by reacting 6-amino penicillanic acid or a neutral salt thereof with an acid chloride of the general formula: <FORM:0877531/IV (b)/2> or with its functional equivalent as an acylating agent for a primary amino group. Such equivalents include the corresponding acid bromides, acid anhydrides and mixed anhydrides with other carboxylic acids including monoesters and particularly lower aliphatic esters, of carbonic acid. Salts include non-toxic metallic salts such as, sodium, potassium, calcium and aluminium, the ammonium salt and salts of amines such as trialkylamines, procaine, dibenzylamine, N-benzyl-beta-phenethylamine, l - ephenamine, N,N1 - dibenzylethylenediamine, dehydroabietylamine, N,N1-bis-dehydroabietylethylenediamine.
