Abstract

876,473. Spraying fusible materials. METCO Inc. May 2, 1960 [Aug. 20, 1959], No. 15338/60. Class 69 (3). In a spray gun of the wire-fed type the wire 16 is fed through the gun to the heating zone at the front of the nozzle 1 and is guided by a bushing 3 having a bore which diverges at the outlet end 15. The diameter D2, Fig. 3, of the divergence at the outlet is equal to KAL 1 + D 1 , where D 1 is the normal diameter of the bore of the bushing corresponding to the diameter of the wire, KA lies between 0.035 and 0.54, and L 1 is the length of the divergent portion. Fig. 1 shows a conventional flame spray gun with the bushing; combustion gas flows through a series of circumferentially spaced burner jets 4 and blast gas is supplied through an annular passage 14.
