Abstract

733,401. Spraying fusible materials. RHEEM MANUFACTURING CO. May 2, 1951 [Sept. 20, 1950], No. 25508/53. Divided out of 733,334, [Group III]. Class 69 (3). Flame-spraying apparatus comprises a spraying nozzle 236 with a central channel 410 to which powdered composition is fed at 262, and compressed air is supplied through a converging channel 416 to drive the composition from the central channel about which is arranged a flame jet 460 to direct a flame in the axial direction. The molten material is sprayed through a tube 238 on to the work 10. Compressed air is fed through a conduit 432 to an annular channel 436, and passes through openings 438 and is directed forwardly between a member 440 and a sleeve 442, and then passes rearwardly between said sleeve and a further sleeve 444 to longitudinal channels 430, and then through converging channel 416. Oxygen and acetylene are delivered to an annular mixing and combustion chamber 456 and the burning gas mixture passes through openings 458 to an annular chamber between the central channel 410 and the sleeve 444. The burning gases are emitted through circumferentially spaced openings at the end of the annular chamber. The tube 238 includes a sleeve 246 pivoted at 256 to an arm 258 on the tube, and rollers 254 on the sleeve ride on the work. Alternatively, set screws 248 retain the sleeve in position on the tube.
