Abstract

668,997. Spray-producers. FREEMAN CO., Inc., C. E. May 12, 1950, No. 11952/50. Class 69 (iii). A fusible material spray gun has a tube 14 secured within a housing 13 by a nut 16, and the tube has a passage 26 for a suspension of fusible powder in air, and grooves 39 on its outer end. A sleeve 37 defines with the tube an annular passage .38 leading to the grooves 39, the sleeve 37 having a smaller diameter part 40 providing a shoulder 41 against which a mixture of combustible gas and oxygen impinge. The gas and oxygen are fed to a manifold 12, the gas passing through passages 51, 46, annular recess 32, longitudinal passages 34, and the annular passage 38, and the oxygen through, passages 52, 47, annular recess 31, and passages 35, 34 and 38. The powder and air mixture is delivered from the manifold to passages 50, 45; recess 33, radial ducts 36 to thepassage 26. The proportions of combustible gas, oxygen, air and powder are controlled by valves on the manifold, the latter mixture being obtained by leading a part of the air supplied to the manifold to a powder agitator, the powder thus picked up being led back to the manifold:
