Abstract

854,141. Metal spraying burners. KOVOFINIS NARODNI PODNIK. April 15, 1958 [April 16, 1957], No. 12019/58. Class 75(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A burner assembly for metal spraying comprises a ring of jets i supplied with oxyacetylene &c. surrounding a central bore k, through which the metal to be sprayed is conveyed as a wire or as particles in an air current, and an outer annular discharge nozzle through the annulus p of which is discharged a sheath of cooling air enveloping the flames. As shown the burner has two burner parts 2, 3 clamped with-in a housing 1 by a screwed sleeve 6 having a shoulder butting on a flange of the burner part 3 and has a shield piece 4 held on the sleeve 6 by a cap nut 7 to provide the outer annular nozzle. Oxygen is supplied at a to annular space d in the burner part 2 and passes through bores e to draw in acetylene, supplied at b to a second annular space g in the burner part 2 and discharge it through larger bores f in line with the bores e to an annular groove h, on the end face of the burner part 2 ; the other burner part 3 has the ring of jet ducts i supplied from this annular groove h. To prevent the flame backing into the central bore k there are provided forwardly inclined ducts s through which flows some of the cooling air entering the housing 1 at c and flowing in a generally axial sense through the annular space l within the sleeve 6 and through milled out slots m in the burner part 3 to annular space n feeding the nozzle annulus p.
