Abstract

The invention comprises: the compound of the formula <FORM:0874096/IV (b)/1> and acid addition salts thereof; the preparation thereof by condensing a compound of the formula <FORM:0874096/IV (b)/2> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0874096/IV (b)/3> where X represents an amino group or a group convertible into an amino group and P and Q are such that they will react together to produce a grouping of the formula <FORM:0874096/IV (b)/4> followed, if necessary, by converting the group X into an amino group and, if desired, converting the product into its acid addition salts; and pharmaceutical compositions containing the products (see Group VI). 1-(2-Chloro - 4 - nitro - benzoyl) - 4 - benzyl-piperazine and 1-(2-chloro-4-acylamino-benzoyl)-4-benzyl-piperazine are prepared by the action of 1-benzyl-piperazine on appropriately substituted benzoyl chlorides.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the compound of the formula <FORM:0874096/VI/1> or acid addition salts thereof with a suitable carrier. Preparations may be in the form of tablets, pills, powders, granules, capsules, emulsions, solutions, suspensions, syrups and elixirs. Specified salts are the hydrohalides, phosphate, nitrate, sulphate, maleate, fumarate, citrate, tartrate, methanesulphonate and ethanedisulphonate.
