Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula: <FORM:0869460/IV (b)/1> wherein R is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl or alkoxy group, and acid addition salts thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions (see Group VI) containing these compounds. The compounds are prepared by reacting appropriate phenylpiperazines with 2-hydroxy-tetrahydropyran and, if desired, converting the products into their acid addition salts. The compounds are anorexic agents.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds of the formula <FORM:0869460/VI/1> wherein R is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl or alkoxy group, or acid addition salts thereof, with a diluent. Preparations may be in the form of tablets, powders, capsules, suspensions and solutions. Specified salts are hydrohalides, sulphates and maleates.
