Abstract

869,190. Photographic silver-salt diffusion processes. AGFA A.G. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 20, 1958], No. 1541/59. Class 98(2) The silver halide layer and/or the transfer layer for this process are coated with a protective layer comprising a starch derivative or a galactomannan to facilitate separation of the layers after image transfer, either while wet or after drying also. In examples the layers are, respectively (1) gelatino-silver halide, and gelatine with sodium carboxy methyl cellulose containing nuclei, also hypo if desired, overcoated with aqueous ethyl or propyl starch ether; which layers may be heated while in contact; and (2) gelatino-silver halide and gelatine, both overcoated with starch ether. Guar gum and carob bean gum, also numerous other starch derivatives, are referred to for use as protective layers and such may contain up to 20 % of gelatine, cellulose derivatives or synthetic polymers.
