855,849. Photographic papers. ILFORD Ltd. March 25, 1959 [April 11, 1958], No. 11633/58. Class 98(2) Photographic material is prepared by coating a paper base (which may itself carry a baryta coating) with a liquid composition which is capable of being set without drying, and then supercoating on the layer, while it is set but not dried and before it becomes visibly irregular to the naked eye, a photographic silver halide emulsion. The first coating is preferably aqueous gelatin, which is set by chilling and the silver halide emulsion may comprise gelatin as binder. The paper base may be waterproofed..In an example, a gelatinosilver halide emulsion containing a cyan dye for the dye bleach process was applied to a gelatin layer on a baryta paper base within two minutes after the gelatin had been set by chilling.
