Abstract

1,067,292. Photographic process. AGFA A. G. Sept. 22, 1964 [Sept. 30, 1963], No. 38596/64. Heading G2C. Photographic images and printing forms are prepared by heat developing a photographic material comprising, in order, a support, a layer of water-soluble film-forming colloidcontaining hydroxy or carboxy groups optionally mixed with a water dispersible polymer, and a silver halide emulsion layer containing a developer, bringing the silver halide layer into contact with a transfer material, heating, separating the two materials, thus transferring the exposed parts of light sensitive material on to the transfer material, or vice versa. The specified film forming colloids are cellulose and starch derivatives, alginic acid derivatives, polyvinyl alcohol and derivatives, polyureas containing sulpho groups, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and mixtures thereof with polyvinylacetate: the layer may also contain gelatin and substances which give off water on heating e. g. urea and sodium salts, or which increase the moisture in the layer e. g. polyhydric alcohols, or oligosaccharides. In a typical Example (1) the photosensitive material is prepared by coating a non-baryta coating paper with (a) an aqueous solution of carboxymethyl starch and saponin, followed by (b) a silver chloride gelatine emulsion containing benztriazole, colloidal silicic acid, aqueous carboxy-methyl starch, sodium acetate, crystals, cyclohexanone bisulphite, pyrocatechol, saponin and sulphuric acid; the transfer material used is a non-baryta coated paper coated with polyvinyl alcohol, thiosemicarbazide, benzenesulphohydrazide, and water.
