Class 120(2) A false twisting device in a drafting frame comprises a number of rigid needles which converge to a point and are arranged uniformly about an axis of rotation, at least one needle being mounted for resilient movement in a radical direction. In Fig. 2 three needles 7, with conical tips 8 arranged so that their innermost generatrices are parallel or converging, are mounted in holes 9, 9<SP>1</SP> in a ring 6 and held in position by an elastic ring 11 which is located in an annular groove 10 of the ring 6 and fits in recesses 12 of the needles 7 to prevent their rotation or axial displacement. The holes 9<SP>1</SP> provide a tight fit for two needles while the hole 9<SP>1</SP> is oval to allow the thick needle to be deflected from its normal position against the force of the ring 11 in order to allow the passage of thick parts of the roving &c.
