788,907. Preventing doubles; flyer spindles. CALVERT, Ltd., I. & I., and TATE, C. May 3, 1956 [May 17, 1955], No. 14156/55. Class 120(2) Doubles in textile spinning and similar apparatus are prevented by a flyer the tubular head of which, or means associated with the head, is provided on its upper end with an undercut tooth or teeth. The teeth 2 of a tube 1 of synthetic resin, metal or hard rubber, secured to the head of a flyer 6 by friction or by grub screws or by screwing on to a threaded part of the flyer 6. are formed by oppositely inclined notches 3, 4. The yarn is threaded in the usual way through the bore 7 and through an aperture 8 to a flyer eye. If a broken end of yarn joins with an adjacent unbroken end, the broken end is trapped by a tooth 2 and the tension in the unbroken end increases between the aperture 8 and the eye until it breaks.
