Abstract

758,469. Friction clutches. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1955 [Jan. 29, 1954], No. 2707/54. Addition to 692,944. Class 80(2) [Also in Group IX] The spindle of the parent Specification is modified in that the tube around the shaft is dispensed with and the flexible ring 18 of U- shape cross-section is held in place at one end by a ring 17 held fast on the shaft and fitting 'between the two limbs of the flexible ring and at the other end by a shoulder 15 on a sleeve 14 fixed to the shaft of the spindle. In an embodiment described in the Provisional Specification a long sleeve is fixed to the shaft and has a shoulder formed at the lower end and the flexible ring is mounted between this shoulder and a further ring screwed on to the sleeve and extending between the limbs of the flexible ring.
