Abstract
863,234. Electrolytic treatment of tinplate. STAHLUND WALZWERKE RASSELSTEIN/ANDERNACH A.G. Feb. 9, 1959 [Feb. 8, 1958], No. 4424/59. Class 41. Tin plate for foodstuffs containers, and containers made from such plate, are treated exclusively cathodically in an acid bath. The preferred pH range is pH 4 to pH 6, and a suitable electrolyte is a solution of an alkali bichromate. The current density may be between 2 and 4 amps. per square decimetre, and the duration of the treatment less than 5 seconds, preferably 3 seconds, at a temperature of 60‹ to 90‹ C.
