Abstract

1329192 Electrolytic engraving SKF COMPAGNIE D'APPLICATIONS MECANIQUES 8 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41960/71 Heading C7B A metal part, such as an antifriction bearing component, is electrolytically engraved by connecting the part and a further electrode in contact with an electrolyte, applying alternating current for a period not exceeding 0À5 second and immediately thereafter applying D.C. current with the part connected as anode each voltage not exceeding 30 volts. The electrolyte may be a solution of sodium nitrite with a complex-forming agent. The apparatus may comprise a bell jar containing the electrolyte and a counter electrode, the open mouth of the jar being applied to the part to be engraved. A switch, which may be operated automatically after a pre-set time, applies A. C. and then D. C. through a bridge rectifier and transformer.
