Abstract

799,581. Reactivating zinc-tin alloy plating anodes. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. April 27, 1955 [April 27, 1954], No. 12201/55. Class 41. Zinc-tin alloy anodes for use in the electrodeposition of zinc-tin alloys are reactivated by reducing the thickness of the oxide film on the anodes and subsequently repolarizing them in a zinc-tin alloy electropolating bath. The plating and repolarizing bath may be of the negative cyanide type described and claimed in Specification 786,768. The thickness of the oxide film may be reduced by immersion in dilute hydrochloric or sulphuric acid or by cathodic treatment in an alkaline solution, e.g. the zinc-tin alloy electropolating bath.
