861,327. Spinning yarns. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. April 26, 1957, No. 13330/57. Addition to 732,929. Drawings to Specification. Class 120(3) A bulky, composite yarn (presenting the appearance of chenille, bouclÚ, seed, ratinÚ, doupioni) is formed by feeding two or more continuous filament yarns at considerably different rates into apparatus comprising a zone of fluid turbulence through which at least the yarn (effect yarn) with the higher feed rate passes, and winding the yarns together at a rate equal to the lower feed rate so that the individual filaments of effect yarn(s) are separated and convoluted at random intervals along their lengths into (closed) loops extending outwardly from the composite yarn body or core which includes the yarn(s) with the lower feed rate in unconvoluted form. Each effect yarn is a multifilament and each core yarn may be a monofilament or a multifilament. One or more constituent yarns and/or the composite yarn may be twisted and the latter twist may be sufficient to convolute the effect yarn (in addition to the filaments thereof). The yarns may have different compositions and the feed relation is constant or varying. A jet or nozzle e.g. as described in Specification 762,630 may provide, and feed yarn(s) through, the turbulent zone.
