Abstract

860,885. Shrinking fabrics. BRADFORD DYERS' ASSOCIATION Ltd. May 16, 1957 [May 16, 1956], No. 15263/56. Class 42 (1). A fabric S to be compressively shrunk is guided on to a heated roller 4 immediately before being caught between that roller and a contractible surface. The latter may be a rubber surface on a belt running round two rollers 2, 3. Steam may be blown into the nip between the roller 4 and the belt while the arc of contact between that roller and the fabric before reaching the nip may be three inches long. The moisture content of the fabric, which may be cellulosic, may be 22% or more.
