Abstract

<PICT:0659068/IV (c)/1> During finishing treatment (see Group VIII), a woven fabric web 1 is moistened by being passed through a steamer 17 wherein steam is directed on to opposite sides of the fabric by nozzles. Feed rollers 18 are driven at different speeds so as to compensate for warp shrinkage, and the first lower roller 18 may be arranged to overfeed so as to substantially relieve warp tension during the moistening operation.
