Abstract

930,542. Sizing yarns. COTTON, SILK & MAN-MADE FIBRES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Oct. 28, 1959 [Aug. 1, 1958], No. 24804/58. Class 142 (1). The protruding loose fibres on yarns are caused to lie closely against the parent yarn by longitudinally moving and contacting the yarns against oppositely moving adjacent yarns after application and before the drying of the size. Groups of yarns are combined into a sheet W and passed around a roller 26 where they are divided into two groups which pass over and under rollers 24, 23 where they again combine into one sheet and pass around roller 25, over rollers 23, 24, 26 and thence to drying drums. Between the rollers 23, 24 the yarns contact other yarns travelling in the opposite direction. The roller set is pivotally mounted for ease of loading. The rollers may be quickly detachable from a frame.
