Abstract

Fibre webs are divided in a condenser by pairs of tapes that pass between a pair of cylinders, each pair of tapes having a portion of the length of one tape disposed above or below and parallel to a portion of the length of the other tape of the pair. In one embodiment, Fig. 1 all upper tapes 23, 25, 27, 29 of the tape pairs pass round rollers 10,12 and lower tapes 22, 24, 26, 28 pass round rollers 11,13, which may be grooved to receive the tapes. An alternative arrangement is shown in Fig. 4. The tapes are preferably formed of a synthetic material, such as nylon.
