Abstract

894,549. Lap forming apparatus. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. Sept. 22, 1960 [Oct. 1, 1959], No. 32627/60. Class 120(1) Laps formed from a number of ribbons of fibres laid on top of one another are prevented from splitting into the component ribbons by being engaged by a surface that extends across the direction of travel of the lap, the surface being located between lap drawing rolls and a lap condenser. Preferably more than one fixed surface is employed, the surfaces being in the form of pairs of bars 20, 30 that are adjustable to each other vertically.
