Abstract

854,803. Securing wiper arms on shafts. SWF-SPEZLALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER G. RAU G.m.b.H. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb: 19, 1958], No. 5009/59. Class 80 (2). A windscreen wiper blade is secured to a sheetmetal mounting 2 pivoted on a head 5 formed with an axially-grooved bore 11 receiving the splined end 12 of a shaft 1, the ends 131 of springs 13 on the head being pressed inwards behind the splined shaft end 12 by the side walls of the mounting 2 when the blade and the mounting are pivoted upwards about a pin 6 from the position shown for the wiper blade to lie against the windscreen. The ends 131 of the springs then prevent the head 5 andthe wiper blade from being pulled off the end of the shaft 1. When the wiper blade and the mounting 2 are drawn away from the windscreen and pivoted about the pin 6 to the position shown, the springs 13 fly out clear of the-end 12-of the shaft, so that the head 5 can be withdrawn therefrom. Either two springs 13, or a single spring of U-shaped cross-section, may be provided. A snap-over spring-and-link device 8, 9 either biases the mounting 2 to hold the wiper blade against the windscreen, or holds the mounting in the inoperative position shown.
